If you're applying for an Atty-Adv job you won't be interviewed by an ALJ, but by a Hearing Office Director if at all.

I've already talked to a Hearing Officer Director who  set up the interview with the ALJ

Buster, congratulations on your interview.  When did the posting close for your position?

Can someone provide me with an idea of what the recruiting time frame is like?  I have an interview with an ALJ tomorrow, and wonder how long these things tend to drag out?  I would appreciate any input.  Thanks in advance.  This is for a position in Southern California, which closed on 3/10.

I think it all depends on the location.  I can only speak from my experience and that would be that you would know something fairly soon because there is usually additional paperwork/background check/getting fingerprinted, etc. that you need to do if offered the position.

Thanks for the quick reply, Buster.  How did your interview go?  They scheduled me for a telephonic tomorrow.  I prefer to interview in person, but what can you do.  I didn't get any kind of confirmation via e-mail re: qualification.  Lady called out of the blue and asked me re: availability.  Sorta strange.

It went well but not the location that I wanted.  From what I can gather, most interviews are by phone and not in person.  Same thing happened with me--just a phone call re: availability.  You must meet the min. qualifications or they probably wouldn't be interviewing you.  Also, they asked if it was okay to speak to my current supervisor, which I gave them permission to do and they did call her.

Thanks for the heads up on the supervisor issue.  I need to think about that one.  The partner I work for doesn't know I'm looking.  I applied for the Director position, but only relevant experience is as a 10+ yr litigator and have opted out of the partnership track.  In any event, I'll report back tomorrow after my phone call with the Judge.
