I wish some of you would think about running for office next year. I don't mind doing my job-in fact, it is easy. However, I think we need some of you to become Officers so we can get new ideas and new blood. If I were a new or relatively new attorney with ODAR, I would be looking toward the future. Now is a good time to start trying to get grade increases for Senior Attorneys and to lay the groundwork for those positions to be a stairstep to the ALJ position.

You may think that this is too far in the future for you to bother, but trust me, after a few years you will be looking for a career ladder. This organization, in my opinion, has clout because it has always been rational and not concerned with the small stuff. If management feels like we are rational and looking to help the efficacy of ODAR while it helps us, they will be more inclined to agree with our proposals.

Even if you do not run, and I hope you do, I urge you to be thinking of things that we can do to promote our interests and those of ODAR and the claimants. Send your suggestions in to one of the officers or post it on this board.

Also, the more members we have, the greater strength we have in succeeding, so get your office workers to join. $10 a year is barely noticeable.
