I wanted to see if anyone had any insight into the SAA hiring process.  I have applied for a couple of SAA slots that are outside of my office, and am unsure how the process will work.  At this time, my application passed through regional and was sent to the hearing office.  What goes on from here?  And how likely is an office to hire an someone to be SAA who is not from their office?  Thanks.

It seems that selections from outside are less common than promotions from within.  However, local office preference, regional office influence, residual effects of prior greivances, etc. can all have an impact.  Thus, it's usually very hard to predict any particular selection.
